Pearls of Sorrow
Pearls of Sorrow explores the complex interplay of joy and pain through contrasting materials and form. White, lustrous pearls represent happiness and positivity, while black trash bags symbolize moments of pain and negativity. The piece intentionally juxtaposes these elements: hard, durable pearls embody fragile yet enduring joy, while soft, fragile trash bags evoke the vulnerability of sorrow.
Intertwined within the design, these materials reflect the inescapable nature of everyday emotion — happiness and pain coexist, and perspective shapes how they are experienced. Through this contrast of texture, weight, and delicacy, the work emphasizes the delicate balance between light and dark, resilience and fragility, creating a tangible exploration of emotional duality.
