Scales through time
A perception of power and loyalty. A garment that is not only a vision of my younger self, but also of my culture. This is a contemporary reimagining of the Han Dynasty, portraying ancient strength, grace, and cultural pride. Drawn to the bold richness of imperial red, not just for its beauty, but for what it represents: power, and honor. Around the garment is soft beige, white, and delicate touches of green, and blue hand embroidery — echoing the harmony of nature that’s always been deeply rooted in Chinese philosophy.
At the heart of it all is the dragon — fierce and elegant. Its scales, created using a smocking technique, inspired the textures, the cuts, and the very rhythm of the design, shown in every seam. The dragon represents more than strength; it reflects the fearless confidence I yearned for as a young girl — a kind of inner power I’ve only come to embrace through creating this work.
This collection isn’t just fashion — it’s storytelling through fabric. It honours tradition while daring to push forward. It’s a fusion of heritage, and innovation. Every stitch carries the spirit of Chinese culture and my own voice as an artist and storyteller.
